Cantinho Do Avillez
José Avillez Restaurant, Parque Das Naçoes
A Culinary Home with Design Soul
Chef José Avillez’s Cantinho is one of the most emblematic names in contemporary Portuguese cuisine, and its Expo location demanded an interior that could match its culinary prestige. The design strikes a balance between casual sophistication and homey warmth—inviting and intimate, yet refined to the level of the gastronomic experience itself.
Set within a two-story structure, the space underwent a complete transformation in a palette inspired by the Portuguese countryside: soft tones of salmon, rose, and cream are paired with natural textures like stone, wood, and straw. In both the ground-floor and first-floor dining rooms, framed wicker wall panels add organic texture and depth to walls bathed in gentle dawn-rose hues. Long built-in banquettes, dressed in bespoke petal-toned and cream cushions, line the perimeter, offering comfort with a tailored touch.
Tables and retro Scandinavian chairs, painted in muted shades of grey-blue and dusty salmon, create a cool contrast to the warm palette. These are set against the graphic presence of black industrial metal used in window frames and lighting fixtures, adding structure and rhythm to the space.
