A Domestic Gallery on the Coast

Set within the exclusive Costa Terra development, this 1300 sqm family house reimagines the idea of a domestic gallery—a home where architecture and art live in seamless dialogue. Designed to accommodate both family life and guest hospitality, the house features three bedroom suites, a master suite, and two independent guest suites and guest cottage, offering privacy, comfort, and curated sophistication.

Given the clients’ role as passionate art collectors, Studio Astolfi placed their collection at the heart of the design. The architecture responds with spaces that not only accommodate but elevate the artworks —at times becoming art itself. Engraved wooden panels in the gym and entryways, the bold stereotomy of green Viana stone in the pool and the intricate pattern of the rooftop floor, are just a few examples where craft and concept converge. Each intervention tells a story of craft, geometry, and meaning.

Materiality is key: terracotta, stone, microcement, and a palette of raw tones paired with some pops of color, rich dark woods like iroko and soft light contrasts present in oak. This interplay of textures and finishes creates a dialogue between raw minimalism and refined Art Deco elegance—a tension between soft imperfection and precise detailing.

The house unfolds around a fluid indoor–outdoor experience, connecting social areas with each other and with the surrounding landscape. Among the standout spaces are a cozy home cinema dressed in deep green walls and ochre textiles, a serene spa evoking a sculpted cave, and the ultimate “cherry on top”, a rooftop terrace—an elevated retreat that crowns the home with expansive coastal views.
More than a residence, this is a living gallery—where art, architecture, and atmosphere meet in harmony.
