Castro
Atelier de Pastéis de Nata
A Living Display
For this project with Castro, Studio Astolfi imagined a world of geometry, movement, and playful exploration. The concept for the window displays revolves around a dynamic interplay of shapes—cones, parallelepipeds, extruded rectangles—creating a rhythm of visual discovery that echoes the architecture of passageways and inner views.
We envisioned a playground, a vibrant scene where the core products of Castro—Pastéis de Nata, Ginja, and Port Wine—are celebrated not just as delicacies, but as protagonists in a whimsical setting. The result is a miniature, imaginary factory: a world inhabited by Castro’s staff, curious children, and people delighting in tasting the Pastéis.
Each pastry featured in the display was meticulously handcrafted from ceramic, shaped from clay and hand-painted, bringing a tactile and artistic quality to the mise-en-scène.
More than a simple visual arrangement, this installation is a chain reaction of moments—a scene designed to make passersby stop, look, and wonder: “What’s going on here?”
It’s a space full of movement, storytelling, and joy. A place where geometry meets indulgence, and every corner offers something new to discover.
