Through the Blue: The Warmth of Home at Hermès

For the Hermès Winter 2017 window displays in Lisbon, Studio Astolfi envisioned a domestic setting. Spread across three windows, each scene represented a different part of the home: a men’s wardrobe, a woman’s vanity, and a baby’s crib. Everything was rendered in deep blue, with only the Hermès products shown in their true colors. This contrast drew attention to the items for sale, while the monochrome blue evoked a sense of nostalgia — a poetic metaphor for returning home for Christmas.

In the other three windows, Studio Astolfi recreated a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room with a central fireplace. As with the first set, all elements were crafted in dark blue felt, except for select focal points — the golden roast emerging from the oven, the toys scattered on the floor, the warm firewood, and the vibrant Hermès objects. These colorful details, all made from felt, symbolized human warmth and the essence of the holiday season: gathering with loved ones, sharing meals, and enjoying the comfort of home.
