Boutique Hotel Douro
A Neo-Cru calm retrait in the heart of Douro
This Boutique Hotel is nestled on the same hillside overlooking the stunning Douro Valley. It is a hospitality project designed for events and retreats. Spanning approximately 2,160 m², the property is organized into four distinct blocks.
Block A consists of a renovated structure, repurposing an old wine press. Block B is a new construction adjacent to Block A. Block C is a restored chapel that was originally located on the estate. Finally, Block D, situated toward the southeastern corner of the property, houses the swimming pool area.
Blocks A and B together accommodate seven different room types, complemented by a breakfast room, reception area, terrace, outdoor seating space, and public restrooms. Block C has been transformed into a garden among the ruins, open for guests to explore. Block D includes a pool terrace, the swimming pool itself, and supporting changing facilities.
The concept behind the project is neo-cru, a design approach embracing neutrality and simplicity. It focuses on natural materials such as wood, stone, and terracotta, with a soft pastel palette inspired by the hues of the Douro—terracotta reds, earthy greens, and muted blues. The goal is to evoke a deep sense of peace and comfort, in harmony with the surrounding landscape.
Notable design features include crafted wooden ceilings in the guest rooms and the organically shaped fireplace in the breakfast lounge.
This is an ideal countryside retreat for events, where guests can enjoy both comfort and privacy in a serene and picturesque setting.
