Casa Malveira

A Harmonious Dialogue Between Space and Soul

Nestled in the lush hills of the Sintra mountains, with serene views stretching to the Atlantic Ocean, House in Malveira is a private residence designed for a couple seeking peace, balance, and a deep connection with nature. Surrounded by native vegetation and fragrant gardens, this 350 m² retreat embodies calm living.

The property comprises two main buildings, carefully rehabilitated to blend into the natural setting. The main house serves as the couple’s private residence, designed in a tranquil wabi-sabi aesthetic—earthy, minimal, and quietly elegant. Oak wood flooring runs throughout the interiors, harmonizing with muted, natural tones. The kitchen is adorned with soft green ceramic tiles and minimalist oak cabinetry, creating a space that is both grounded and refined. Arched wooden doors and a curated mix of textile textures bring warmth and softness to every room.

The second building—affectionately referred to by the owners as the Gnome House—functions as a guest house and a space for yoga classes and retreats. This structure is entirely coated in microcement, sculpted to eliminate sharp angles in favor of organic curves. The result is a rustic, cave-like interior with a unique sense of coziness and flow—where straight lines are replaced by gentle, enveloping forms.

Completing the project is an outdoor area featuring a pool, a barbecue zone, and a garden filled with aromatic plants and seasonal flowers. House in Malveira is not just a home—it is a sanctuary shaped by nature, intention, and the desire for peaceful living.
