A Tribute to Alentejo's Essence
Thanks to its privileged location, Casa Nossa stands as a tribute to the Alentejo. The various settings of the project come to life through diverse construction elements, furniture, decoration, and art. It is a project that breathes textures, materiality, and nature with a raw yet sophisticated character.
Studio Astolfi once again delivers a meticulous and high-quality work in a project that pays homage to the Alentejo. Owned by José Avillez and Sofia Ulrich, Casa Nossa is a luxury rural hotel near Reguengos de Monsaraz, offering unobstructed views of the Alqueva reservoir and the surrounding Alentejo landscape. The outdoor area dazzles with its natural beauty and various nooks where one can relax. However, it is inside that Studio Astolfi shines in its essence, presenting a cohesive and welcoming project that includes several custom-designed pieces specifically for the project, made from wood, straw, stone, ceramics, and other organic materials. The result is a house worthy of its name, featuring 10 suites with patios, balconies, or porches, a large living room connected to the dining room, a library and bar, an audiovisual room, a wine cellar, and an outdoor area complete with a fire pit.
Casa Nossa is an Alentejo estate spread across two main buildings designed on a 65-hectare plot near the Alqueva reservoir. Inside, there are 10 suites (ranging from 30 to 67 m²) with private patios, balconies, or porches; a main living room (named Sala da Ruína, approximately 180 m²) that also serves as a dining room; a wine cellar; a bar (named Sala de Caça); an audiovisual room (cinema and shows); and a reception area. Outside, there is a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, massage hut, fire pit, support bar, yoga studio, gym, tennis and padel courts, a dock—and the surrounding landscape.
Sala da Ruína
The main living room features different environments in a single space. It includes two fireplaces, various seating areas, a TV area, a game table, and a piano. Here, terracotta tones, woods, and straw dominate. Warm tones typical of the Alentejo evoke a "home" atmosphere. Most of the furniture pieces were custom-designed, notably the sofa (a complex piece in wood and straw), ceramic wall sconces (decorative lighting), a sideboard dividing the living and dining areas, and other support furniture. Each element in this space was meticulously considered in terms of placement and relevance to convey a sense of harmony and well-being. Tapestry by Vasco Águas. Painting by Pedro Batista. Some decorative objects were curated by Felipa Almeida, who researched Alentejo folk art pieces, such as figurines and vases. Thanks to its size and multiple windows, the Sala da Ruína benefits from abundant natural light and unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape.
Sala de Caça
With a more enigmatic ambiance and sober tones, the Sala de Caça features a library, fireplace, and bar area with several custom-made pieces, including tables with Verde Viana stone tops and stools (upholstered in warm-toned fabric and leather), a coffee table created from a slab of the old olive press, and all carpentry.
Wine Cellar
Although designed in a narrower space, the wine cellar follows the same interior design line, with terracotta tones and prominent wood elements. The carpentry was custom-made, as well as the bench and table. Flooring, walls, and vaulted ceiling in terracotta.
