The best Christmas is a child’s Christmas. For children, this is a season of magic and fantasy, ripe with the imminent fulfillment of wishes. Anticipation and desire are sharpened by the potential for surprise. Vintage toys hand-crafted of recycled wood recall this joyful richness, while staying rooted in a material simplicity evoked in the play of details, colors, textures, light and scale. At Christmas 2015 each vitrine at Hermès Lisbon will celebrate one of these toys – train, airplane, magic cube, spinning top, doll house – in evocative dialogue with coveted Hermès products, highlighting each product’s materiality and beauty.
