With the arrival of the curated, young, and vibrant ME by Meliá Hotel in Lisbon, Studio Astolfi had the pleasure of giving the city’s newest destination a warm and imaginative welcome.

Aligned with the brand’s spirit, the studio brought the poetic world of travel to life through a suspended art installation that blends playfulness, craftsmanship, and emotion.

Floating above the hotel lobby, a series of soft, oversized sculptures—suitcases, compasses, airplanes, clothing, postcards, even a Pastel de Nata—evoke the wonder of exploration. At its center, an upside-down suitcase releases a cascade of handcrafted fabric objects, symbolizing movement, discovery, and memory.

Composed of rich textiles in warm terracotta tones, each element invites visitors to look up, pause, and dream. The installation transforms the lobby into a space of transition and imagination—where journeys begin, stories unfold, and curiosity takes flight.

Every element is handcrafted, blending textile artistry with storytelling. The result is a floating landscape where curiosity meets memory—a place where visitors are invited to pause, gaze upward, and embark on a journey between destinations and dreams.
