L'Objet

Flowers That Tell Stories

Created for the L’Objet window displays in New York, London, and Paris, the installations designed by Studio Astolfi transform the artisanal gesture of paper flowers into a poetic and contemporary experience. Inspired by the traditional paper flowers of Campo Maior — a symbol of celebration, community, and collective memory in Portugal — the project reinterprets this popular heritage through a sophisticated and immersive scenographic language.

The window displays emerge as suspended gardens between reality and fantasy. Monumental paper flowers unfold through layers of texture, color, and movement, creating delicate landscapes that appear to float in space. Each composition reveals the handmade care and intentional imperfection of artisanal work, evoking the ephemeral fragility of the traditional flowers crafted by hand in the streets of Campo Maior.

More than a decorative exercise, the project celebrates the emotional power of craftsmanship and collective memory. Just as the Alentejo festivities transform the town into a living stage through thousands of handmade flowers, these installations seek to create a sense of wonder and belonging. Paper — a simple, light, and transient material — becomes a vehicle for storytelling, dream, and cultural identity.

Through the intersection of art, architecture, and installation, Studio Astolfi creates a visual universe where tradition and contemporaneity coexist. The window displays become more than exhibition spaces; they are transformed into sensory stages capable of transporting the viewer into an imaginary world that is at once deeply Portuguese and universally resonant.
