Wanderlust Ritz

WANDERLUST is the name of the new artistic installation by Studio Astolfi, created exclusively for the iconic Ritz Four Seasons Hotel Lisbon. Led by artist and architect Joana Astolfi, the installation is a whimsical and nostalgic celebration of the holiday season. At its heart is a giant Ferris wheel featuring eight unique, festive scenes inside its gondolas—from a Christmas dinner to a pile of gifts with a curious giraffe peeking through. Each scenario plays with perspective and adds a touch of humor and wonder.

Described by Astolfi as a "statement piece that conveys movement without moving," WANDERLUST invites visitors to explore multiple stories and feel transported into a magical, cozy world.

In addition, the studio created LETTER BOX, a large red mailbox inspired by letters to Santa. Surrounded by flying letters made from holiday-patterned fabrics and hand-embroidered symbols, the installation includes a writing area where children can send their own letters to the North Pole.

These interventions are part of a creative partnership with the hotel (2022–2024), aiming to bring a fresh, contemporary touch to its historic setting. General Manager Guilherme Costa emphasizes how this year's decorations evoke the magic of festive funfairs—Ferris wheels, carousels, and cotton candy—encouraging guests to relive childhood memories with loved ones.
